Really a heartbreaking story, especially being the dad of 2 year old myself. After bringing home the groceries Thursday July 15, 2010 with mom and grandpa, little Jaydien Stroud slipped outside. The house is located next to a dimly light highway. The family searched frantically, calling his name and using flashlights, but the boy was hit by a car and killed. This piece aired Friday night after the accident. I can't take much credit for the video or the interviews since they had all be shot before I started my shift. This is the piece I edited for the evening broadcast. Interviewed are Harold Naber, the boy's great-grandfather and Mike Schmidt a retired highway patrol officer who saw the accident and stopped to give the boy CPR. Thanks to Patrick Godfrey, Gene Cotton, Zach Thaxton, and an unnamed camera crew from 9 News who gather the video for this piece.
