Inspired by ecologically-themed films such as 'Under Control' and 'One Life', we have invited British professor Tim Jackson, Sustainable Development professor at the University of Surrey and member of the UK Sustainable Development Commission. How can we reconcile a solution for the financial crisis with current environmental issues? This is the central question of Jackson's successful publication, 'Prosperity without Growth'. He investigates how our economy can keep on developing -- which is necessary to maintain our social security system, for example -- without negative effects for the environment. In a short lecture, Tim Jackson will discuss his theory. This will be followed by a debate on the impact of Jackson's theory on developing countries.
