Great song, and my favourite Christmas one. But why has the uploader of this video titled it "Big Band Version"? This is the ** original version ** (a slighter longer remixed version came later, but you wouldn't know the difference except for the extra running time). Chris did perform versions of this song without the orchestra for live TV shows like BBC's Top Of The Tops - but those versions are pretty poor.

This version is from 1988. I called it bigband version cause of the arrangement. To me it sounds like how a bigband would play it with the piano, the rhythm section and the violins, and that all in a very cheerful up tempo foxtrot beat.

However despite of what the internet says, the original version is from 1984. I got that original single with the date pressed on it. This version is completely different, not this cheerful piano and the rhythm slower. It is far more melancholic.

Both of the songs are totally different because of the atmosphere they reflect. I personally like both songs the same cause they are so totally different.

You can also find this version on my video’s called (Original Version) because that is the only original version.

By the way this is NOT a live version even thow you hear the studio audience clap and it sounds a but hollow.

This is a video recording of TopPop, a Dutch version of Top of The Pops with a slight difference, all the songs in the show were never performed live but always play backed, often with audience. To get a sort of live effect the whole recording was done with a few microphones recording the audience and the song coming out of the studio speakers. Therefore this version sounds exactly the same as the studio single I have from 1984 but then in mono and slightly hollow.

Fortunatly it gets played alot here in Holland. Talking about underplayed christmassongs, have a look at Angel with The Christmas song (not the one you know) and Winter Song at my videos. Two great christmas-/wintersongs but hardly ever played on the radio. A shame realy.
