No, Julie Newmar was the 1st, but later when they shot Batman the movie (1966) Newmar couldn't be in it for some reason. Maybe she was shooting some other movie the same time? So they got Lee Merriwether to replace her as Catwoman in the movie. In all fairness Merriwether is probably a better actress and I don't know how Newmar would have pulled off the Miss Kitka character in the movie. Julie Newmar is however a truly feline woman and looks stunning. Haven't seen Mikinnas Gold, yet...

Eartha Kitt, Lee Meriweather. Both were great Catwomen. Julie Newmar is in a class by herself and created a character that remains vivid, sexy and fun to this day.

I actually enjoy both. I simply look at them as two different things or categories. The comic is more of a serious interesting tone. As compared to the Adam West batman, which is more of a funny/sexy tone. Plus I think the newer batman cartoon "The Batman" has taken some of the humor form this to appeal to the kids more.

The fact that Batman and Catwoman had a thing for each other was something that could be traced all the way back to the earliest Batman comics of the 1940s, and it's still even touched on these days in the Batman comics
