  • @XforeverlongingX Nina Simone wasn't even the one who made this song famous. Chill out.

  • @arsongrady awkward. Abel Meeropol was a man. And he taught in New York City.

  • my teacher let us hear it for our Harlem Renaissance project . love it . ♥

  • @XforeverlongingX ya, they would hate a positive message being brought back to life for the younger generation to hear and think about

  • It is a shame that someone would offer such a strong bias opinion about these two wonderful artist and the work that they have done with this song. As a person who appreciates all kinds of music, I think I would hold my thoughts and opinions about an artist and their work if I am not familiar with their work. It would make me seem uneducated about the subject and closed minded to offer an opinion that has no real basis.

  • These two artist are some of the most influential artist in hip hop entertainment. Who they are as artist and as leaders in the community speaks volumes to their character and the music they present has more class and substance than many many many of the artist in the industry. Some of these comments are obviously from someone who does not have a clue what these two artist stand for and the type of music they put out.

  • Strange Fruit was written by a white southern school teacher originally published as a poem her name was Abel Meeropol, so that ends that discussion.

  • @XforeverlongingX nina simone didnt write strange fruit and it has been performed by numerous artists so I dont see how your comment is relevant. The song was originally published in poem format by a white southern school teacher named Abel Meeropol. And I believe billie holiday performed it as a song first.

  • @XforeverlongingX Just because you don't like hip hop does not mean another artists would despise being honored by having some of the best and most conscious rappers sample her. This is a great song by the way great message Nina would be proud to see these young black men still care about where their ppl came from and where their going.

  • @XforeverlongingX - I completely disagree I believe that Nina would be honored that young artist are still paying homage and keeping our history alive. When children hear this type of music not only do they become inspired, but they go digging in the crates to find the originals....Or if they ever came across the song in passing it will be familiar to them, which will make them LISTEN. I don't think she would want her MESSAGE to be lost in history.
