@xXGoThiicGiiRLXx "Slap That Bass" was originally composed by George Gershwin in 1937 for the movie "Shall We Dance" starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. In the year 1959, Ella Fitzgerald recorded a five album set entitled "Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook." In that set, Ella covers a great number of George Gershwin classics but amps them up a bit with jazzy arrangements.

Ella Fitzgerald is classic and wonderfully refreshing. She extended the lifespan of jazz by a couple decades in popular culture. Her departure from the jazz scene rendered the advent of rock'n'roll. Unfortunately, with a few exceptions, jazz will never have the mainstream appeal it used to. Simply put: no arts programs in public schools, no appreciation for quality music.

Remember when it took talent to make good pop music?

Ella's singing doesn't sound staid even in these times because she was better than anybody ever was or will be. This song deserves more than ~159 views...
