Chad Kautzer leads an Occupy Denver teach-in on economic and social theory, or what he calls Occupy Economics. He is a professor at the University of Colorado Denver. Gives a very clear understanding of the principles of Occupy and the Bank and Wall Street economics that lead to the worldwide movement .

  • Clear, intelligent, carefully expressed and argued. Those who disagree should use argument not name calling to create a dialogue. Evolve or stifle.

  • Good Marxist critique of capitalism!

  • What a hack

  • I would love to debate this guy based on moral principles rather than the economic theory part. I believe in the Non-Aggression Axiom that says no one has the right to initiate force on another unless in self defense. I think all human interactions are best if they are on voluntary or consensual means. I think that if someone wants to live in a society like what this guy is describing then they should be able to as long as they don't force people to participate in this type of society.

  • do we all assume that friedman's capitalism is taken as the basis for the current system against which occupy economics stands?

  • DrStephenJKrune, Ph.D. in Name Calling, has no valid arguments, so must simply resort enjoying the sound of his own fingers typing.

  • I love that the post ww2 middle class boom was mentioned, a lot of younger people have no knowledge of that period &/or their parents don't mention it. There are things we can do within the political system to bring back unions, increase min wage, improve education, make health care more affordable, and enforce trade agreements. I appreciate occupy and what they are doing, I think they have a great outside game. I just wish they would have more respect for those working w/ them on the inside.

  • Thanks to zggary for editing this down to less than 30 min so quickly! The teach-in was only the day before and lasted 2 hours with about 40-50 attending. @markmccau, I hear your point about jargon. I try to be accessible, but introduce new terms I find helpful to the movement. I didn't know this would be filmed (and thus have 2 audiences) so folks online don't get the handout or Q&A. Next time--this begins a series--I'll explain new terms within a 30-min period with online viewers in mind.

  • This is the kind of information needed in order for people to have a thorough understanding of what is right or wrong with our system, thus providing the basis for an understanding of how to effect any needed change. I'd like to see the jargon reduced to slightly more accessible language - if possible. Other than that this is an outstanding resource.
