Hello My Name is Jeremy Hobbs, local political and community activist and candidate for city council in 2012. Today I am coming to you to talk about a very important election, this year, that will literally determine the success and growth of our great city, Columbus Georgia, for the next four years as well as the many years to come.
As you are well aware this year we elect Columbus Georgia's next Mayor. My friends this year there is only one clear choice for Mayor and that is Teresa Tomlinson. For the past three years I have had the extreme pleasure and honor of working alongside with Teresa Tomlinson on the Citizens Advisory Committee for Transportation and we have worked together in many other successful endeavors as well. I can honestly say this about my friend....You will never meet a more sincere, dedicated, compassionate, and hard working person until you meet this wonderful lady named Teresa Tomlinson. That is why I proudly endorse Teresa Tomlinson as Columbus Georgia's Next Mayor. This election we are truly blessed to have her as a candidate. Her hard work with Midtown Inc helped save and transform a dying and obsolete community into the thriving and growing success it has become today. But Teresa see's the bigger picture and knows the larger issues that our great city of Columbus faces. Starting from Macon Rd and headed South...Teresa has seen the disparages and lack of growth that this area has faced for more than a decade and is already hard at work planning its revitalization and rebirth. Because in order for Columbus to survive and become a powerful competitor for jobs, population and growth Teresa understands fully that we must take care of all of Columbus and become once again what our former Mayor Bob Poydasheff envisioned and worked to create...that being One Columbus. We have spent time, assets and energy moving forward and North and throughout this process we have forgotten what we left behind. These areas South of Macon Rd are truly the cornerstone and birthplace of this great city and we must never forget that or allow this area to suffer or fail. For the past four years Columbus has become stagnant in its leadership. True we have focused and made significant changes to Public Safety, yet still much more work is needed in order for Columbus to achieve the vision led by our outgoing Mayor Jim Wetherington of becoming the Safest City in America to work, live and raise a family. Columbus needs real experienced and proven leadership who can negotiate with companies and state leaders to help bring new jobs to Columbus which will bring growth and opportunity not just for us....but for our children and generations still to come. In order to maintain our current population we must provide them and their children excellent opportunities for jobs and employment and help our own citizens fulfill their dreams of starting their own small businesses and we must do everything we can to invite and attract corporations to choose Columbus Georgia as a place to employ and even call home. Teresa also understand the growing problems our city faces with infrastructure and roads. For several years now Teresa has been a strong voice on our transportation committee and has been instrumental in our future road design and infrastructure needs. Teresa has helped save millions of tax dollars by speaking out against poor road way designs that not only hindered every day traffic and commuter access but also helped to save businesses located throughout. She understands and has helped bring change to poor road designs which can literally affect and destroy businesses along the side.
We have so much work ahead of us. That's why there is only one clear choice for Columbus Georgia's next Mayor. The candidate who will work hard for all of us because that's exactly what she has done from the very start of calling Columbus Georgia her home. The candidate who has displayed a true viable vision for Columbus's future success. The candidate who engulfs us with her energetic passion for the people and businesses of Columbus. The candidate who has led not by words....but by action. The candidate who has the experience to lead. That candidate my friends is Teresa Tomlinson.
