With deeply passionate and poetic lyrics, Irish rocker girl Aine Duffy presents hard-edged, alternative-laced rock. While the prevailing tone of her mostly memorable songs is moody, and even dark, theres no pretension evident. Instead, Duffys conviction comes through the material .The lyrics are complex and thought provoking enough to take the listener deeper. Though there are hints of Sophie B. Hawkins and Tori Amos, Duffys willingness to push boundaries shows shes clearly speaking for herself. Musicianship: Duffys rhythm guitar playing is fine, but her strength is undeniably her voice. Intensely dynamic, shes able to go from a soft, low-rumbling idle to all-out angst-ridden full throttle with ease.
