It's because his style is so easy to mimic, plus, he perfected the art of multi-syllable rhyming and showed rappers how it's properly done. The same people battling nowadays were the same kids back in the day, if they were battling, who were rhyming so basic and absolutely had no clue as to how to spit a multi-syllable verse.
