@RingoAteMyHeart - What I'm getting at is that it's essentially the fault of the human gods. The fact that the charr ended up becoming so militaristic (they weren't originally, they were just tribal) was because the human gods kept sending people to fight them, and the charr kept surviving, even against the will of the gods they survived. That's what they do. They became militaristic just to survive. If not for the human gods, the charr would have been very different.

@RingoAteMyHeart - Here are a few more things you might find interesting. The charr would have successfully driven the human invaders out, but their leader was slain by an assassin blessed by the human gods with immeasurable power. The charr fell into chaos after that. Furthermore, before humankind, the Forgotten originally tried to brainwash all of Tyria into worshipping the gods. The charr would have none of that, so the Forgotten hunted the charr until they were pushed back.

@RingoAteMyHeart - Yeah, that's a tricky mess. The charr were never actually bad guys, in fact, they were the defenders. It's just that Ascalon is a propaganda machine. When the humans moved into charr lands, they slaughtered them indiscriminately (women, children, civilians, it didn't matter). They used the 'mindless beasts' line to make it okay. In Guild Wars 1, they also used that same line when they found the charr to be too much for them. Making us do their dirty work.

And even in the novel, it's Rytlock (this charr guy) who gets his heart broken and trust betrayed

Wow. You spend all of Guild Wars 1 believing the Charr are the bad guys and that they destroyed Ascalon and are evil and must be crushed, and then you watch this... Why are humans so awful ;__;

@008abdullah You should read The Edge of Destiny (GW Novel). You'll love Rytlock after reading it. The novels give the charr a lot of personality that we never saw in the original game.

suddenly, after watching this cinematic....i'm much much much sympathetic with the Charr from GW1
