Here's a video of me improvising on one of my favorite tunes by Bobby Hebb. I just made it up on the spot, so forgive the pedal clicking, the bad camera angle, the strange sound quality and the awry notes hahaha

  • Between Robert Osam's Classic Soul groove on this site (sadly, he only plays 1 chorus of it) and your stride-based version here, I feel like I've heard now so many possibilities for this song beyond what I'd ever imagined. Inspired, I return to my piano to work..and play...

  • Thanks for listening. I just sat down one day and just played it the way that felt good, and this is what turned up. ;)

  • 1st version i've heard on youtube that doesn't rush and drag. definitely got that stride feel down. nice art tatum like chops. you could quit your day job!

  • Thanks! I really appreciate it!!!! This IS my job :) I get paid to play and have a good time :) Thanks much!!!!

  • Wow I just love the improvising you put to this song! It's absolutely amazing!! It must be awesome to do this as a work. You're getting paid to do something that makes you happy! Thanks for sharing!

  • Your playing is very lyrical like a vocalist, and there is an exciting sense of adventure in the way you vary the rhythm and dynamics in your ideas that brings the song to life. You sound like an unusually versatile pianist .

  • i love this song

and i normally played it otherwise

now that inspired me sow much and i wanna learn that kind of version

because i love to play stright(?) too
