It is massively arrogant that Shatner calls the documentary "How William Shatner Changed the World" instead of "How Gene Roddenberry Changed the World" or "How Star Trek Changed the World", disrespecting Roddenberry who is the real hero. Shatner is an egomaniac who just happened to be chosen for that role as Captain and is hardly the cornerstone of technological developments Star Trek inspired. I like the guy, don't get me wrong, just saying EGO FREAK, and apparently proud of it!

I think Captain Picard said it best..'Money is no longer the driving force in people's lives"..So instead of a future where everyone is out to get what they can for themselves, people are more driven to do what they can for the common good and each other, it's a symbol for what we all would hope to have as a Future not only for ourselves but for our children's children and all of Mankind..Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek is possibly the greatest Si-Fi work ever created by anyone anywhere.

Gene Roddenberry passed away in 1991. He had approved DS9 before he died. Everything after that wasn't by him.

Star Trek was the first positive portrayal of a high tech future. I was inspired to learn as much about tech as possible as a result, and I think others were as well. I've met many people in hi-tech, and most saw Star Trek as a positive force in their lives.
