DSLR Buying Guide - Basic Tips

I get asked quite often what should I be looking for when I want to get my first dslr. The most important thing is the glass, without better glass you will be much happier with your results and be less frustrated. You wil learn a ton as you grow so I try to focus on the basics right off the bat, not all the bells and whistles of the camera. Get the basic ideas right and you will be really happy.

@lekmann my eyes do move, i was born with an eye condition which causes the muscles to twitch and when im tired the eyes shift back and forth.

@pranshu87 its means the focal lengh, but you have to multiply it with 1,5 for dx nikon and with 1,6 for ef-s canon! 18mm is a wide angle under that its a ultra wide angle. 50mm is a standard lens (so you would have to buy a 35mm lens). 85mm is light tele and 150 is tele. over 150 its long tele!

@shutterpillow why did you get the 18-200? With the AF motor you could of gotten a 35 1.8G and a 50mm AF-D for the same price. Sell your 18-200. And get a Sigma 70-200 2.8. or a 2.8 lens any focal length.

i wish I've seen this vid before. I got a d90 with an 18-55 lens. then got a 18-200. they said that lens is great but i'm not satisfied. now i know why. i should have just gotton the sig 70-200 f2.8 hsm II. i just needed to add a little more bucks.

@DimitryDino No, Canon has a series line and Nikon has a series line. What I would do if I was you is just look up what lenses fit your camera! Its generally pretty easy to find out on Google. I hope I helped!
