  • Speed Specialist Huh? Breaking in a cam at 3000 rpms for 30 minutes is wrong. Its a variationof1500and a max of 2500 for 20 minutes. I dont know where you received your degree from but you guys wouldnt ever touch anything I owned. Besides, does buying a short-block,finishing it out and adding boltons to other cars consider you a Speed Specialist?

  • @jdubcbr600 judging by your page you dont own a damn thing so stfu

  • Nice to see people taking the time to properly break things in. Looks like a nice, clean build. I think it'd be pretty nasty if you left the exterior of the car the way it is...it would make a hell of a sleeper that way.

What kind of numbers does that engine put out?

  • @maverickfa14 330 hp but it went 11s

  • @TH3SUP3RR3DN3CK this was the startup, when breaking in a flat tappet cam you gotta run it over 3000rpm for the first 30 minutes

  • this needs a high lobe cam.. sounds like a new motor

  • @kickfreak23 the 241 casting is the one used for *all* ls1 engines. the 243 casting is used for the ls6 and ls2. ive never owned either an ls6 or an ls2, so ive never done particularly thorough research, but theyre both rated at 400, give or take a few hp. the ls2 has the extra 0.3 liters, and has more torque.

  • @pepene93 yess the heads are ls6.. their the 243 and 241s off the ls6 from the vettes..i havnt heard anything bought the cam.but thats long gone..and iono i got it used odviosuly but dont think the old man cammed it er anything 360 is what we got. wish i can get a copy of the dyno.. and iono ls6 is 385. ls2 are 420 arnt they?

  • @kickfreak23 the 02s got the ls6 intake and clutch if its a manual. not the heads and cams tho. they actually got worse cams than the older ones, to keep power in line. they still had the most, but they werent ls6 engines by any means. 360whp is definitely not stock. and z06 corvettes with the ls6 got 400hp. not really sure what that translates into for the rear wheels, but under 385.

  • @pepene93 i havnt uploaded my 02 ws6 but its has ls6 intake and heads and cam from factor,, dynoed at 360hp and almost 385 rwp. corvette ls6 have 385hp. kuss both my boys got z06s c5s....my dad just told me them 437 got torque tho. and thats all wat matters. ha

  • that was a nice view into the headers looks like the heat treat furnace at work haha

  • @kickfreak23 yeah, theres a lot wrong. the ls6 is a 400hp engine, lol. this is an old school carbed engine. yours is a modern fuel injected engine. btw, judging by your profile, it looks like you have a camaro, which never got the ls6. the best f-bodies got was the ls1 rated at 315hp in 2001-2003, but power was more like 340hp.
