Pakistan moves to impeach its president - 07 Aug 08

Pakistan's coalition leaders have announced they will seek to impeach Pervez Musharraf, the country's president, a move they say is necessary to restore democracy in the country.

Al Jazeera's Clayton Swisher looks at what brought about the decision to impeach the president.

Musharraf proved once and for all that a bad dictator is worset han any bad politiican. After 9 years of illegal rule, even the military was sick of this illiterate sounding clown dictator who brought the worst instability and terrorism. It will take more than 9 years to undue 9 years of Musharraf's systematic destablization. Both Mush and runaway PM Shortcut Aziz must be charged with treason to prevent the next would be dictator from undermining the nation and destablizing everything like Mush!

@ALIG1985 .It will change for the better if everyone learns to respect laws, the constitution and a stable system of governance. There is no shortcut to this formula. Ask yourself why even the Chooras in India have made a functioning democracy work. The Indian culture is more backward than Pakistani culture but the chooras haven't broke the system that was given to them by the British. If we too follow a system and not wait for hero dictators or poltiicians, we too will see development.

Only in this way will the jaahil awaam of Pakistan understand that the evolution of a system of governance and institutions are what will lead Pakistan to salvation. There is no magic and no special hero. Until Pakistanis learn to all respect the law and constitution, we will suffer like we did under black ass Musharraf. As for Zardari, the people of Pak know what he is.

@ALIG1985 . Yes it is slow growth but slow growth is better than negative growth under an idiot like Musharraf who destablized the nation and undermined institutions. Who do you think spent 9 years illegaly as dictator and didn't build flood reservoirs or dams, who caused instability with terrorism and target killing?
