My daughter is 7months and she has sickle cell anemia... its been scary. Ive been doing as much research as possible to educate myself on it. I have a C trait and her father has the S trait so we were told she has the mild version of it. Getting the phone from the doctor when she was only a week old was pretty overwhelming with all the information they told me. But i pray everyday for her. Thanks for sharing your story you're such a strong woman. Take care and God Bless

@abornpoetress oh! I'm so sorry to hear that! I've just always been told by numerous doctors that it doesn't cause any pain, and my parents have it and they are not affected by it AT ALL. Sorry if I offended you, and I hope that you stay well <3

@Kari6147 oh my goodness! I am so sorry to hear that! :( I am wishing him the best and will keep your family in my prayers. The first stroke, the one which I lost feeling and dexterity in my right arm and leg as a result of, I recovered within 2 or 3 days. However, the second one in which I lost my feeling and dexterity in my right arm and leg AND lost my ability to speak well, I would say it took me about 4 to 5 days. Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your story. You're very strong and brave. I have sickle cell trait and lots of people in my extended family have the full blown disorder. It's not easy living with this but, as you've shown, it's important to keep a positive frame of mind and take good care of yourself. Good luck!
