Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the musician frequently appeared on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, and his relationship with the show reaches its apex on this fantastic 1977 television special, which Simon wrote with legendary SNL producer Lorne Michaels. A send-up of the backstage experience, THE PAUL SIMON SPECIAL stars Charles Grodin as a hilarious producer and Lily Tomlin and Chevy Chase as themselves. In addition, Paul plays some of his hits, including collaborations with his old partner, Art Garfunkel.

  • Wow, what a nice addition to my collection! David Sanborn is outstanding as ever, even with that Roseanne Roseannadanna hairdo of his. :o) Thanks for posting for this for the masses!

  • @jerryitus Oh yeah. I noticed Paul not only looked annoyed but he shookhis head after the sax solo and during the last chorus when the sax came in Paul briefly turned his head in the sax player's direction and glared at him.

  • i wish i could find Paul Simon songs that not live

  • Happy 70th, Paul!

  • i like the SNL version also, maybe better but this is great

  • @jerryitus yaa, he hired Brecker after this

  • @jerryitus haha, ya he doesn't seem to like how that whole thing went.

  • The transverse flute is brilliant, but the I (personally) liked the sax solo in the central park more, but this is extravagant.

  • @Dinosax69 hey, David knows he's a sexy beast back then, the chicks then just dig a funky white dude with a fro and that can jam on sax!

  • Is it just me, or does Paul look pissed after the sax solo...?
