  • Hurrah!

Once again, with wit as dry as the sands of Mars, Meades buries the soft-headed thinking that is rampant in these febrile days.

If he had a flag, I'd rally to it.

  • Thanks for posting. Not seen that one before.

    Lovely programme making... :o)

  • To be the honest the thing that annoys me about Meades is his sort of 'intellectual' slapping out the way of the people that appear in his programs. Like the woman talking about her school. I know its a predominantly comic device and I don't suppose they mind really but it does strike me as a sort of affectation indicative of a certain egocentric insecurity that can't stand the mundanely sincere. Still I thought it was great when he walked from Essex Uni right into UEA like they were next door.

  • @kernel2006 It certainly appears that way. He seems to cover movements and periods like they were unfortunate bumbling mistakes. In the case of this documentary, he gives a withering account of state-dictated futuristic architecture but summarises, oddly, by lamenting its demise.

  • So many hilariously funny bits - two-headed teddy bear, montage of 10 to 0 countdown, lecture hall with nobody listening.

But at the same time a great treat for the brain.

  • @belzondium It was such a brilliant line. I also loved the bit just before that where they're interviewing the headteacher lady and they rudely ignore her to zoom in on Meades in the classroom window. Genius segue.

  • @nevinrobinson C'mon my friend, inarticulate people don't say "imtimidatingly adriot and lucid".

  • 3:03 was that 'a Sparta of denim and acne'?

    haha.

  • @ma049

It'd be because I'm not at all articulate, and all my perceived wit and wisdom comes to nothing when I attempt to speak. Meades, however, appears the intimidatingly adroit and lucid type.

  • Yeah, but don't you think it would interesting to see why he holds you in distain.

I'd would be over something really unexpected like cooking with a wok or cycling to work.

  • That was terrific. Really enjoyed it. Thankyou very much for posting it!
