Harmonic-Counterpoint-Intervallic is the name I gave to a special kind of approach for soloing on bass guitar. The main idea is to be able to visualize all the possible chord voicings related to scales on the keyboard and to choose the notes to play around them and from them in special combinations, often thinking about more lines who develop at the same time.I´m just at the beginning of course, and it sounds extreme and chaotic sometime, but I´m sure that this approach can bring to some interesting lines and a new way of dealing with harmony on a bass guitar.

  • I'm interested in it. Is it possible to give some exercises? Thank you!

Hi, thanks for your comment. You can start taking a note on the higher string of the bass, and while keeping that note fixed, or in sustain, you improvise lines on the other strings, first related to a scale, than all the notes out of that scale. While doing that try to visualize the out notes not as dissonant bt as different colors.

  • Respond to this video... The goal is to have under your finger all the counterpoint possibilities. It´s important to be able to see the harmony as block of chords and voicing on the keyboard.
