She's safe (original)

I wrote this song for my mom when she had lost her husband.
Seeing how she coped with her loss made me feel proud of her.
She was and is an example for others around her.

The wind blows round and round the house
The rain comes pouring down the clouds
She's sound asleep, she doesn't mind the sounds
She's safe and she feels good on her own grounds

She hasn't known for long to be alone
She's brave, this little person, she is strong

When morning comes she tells him she is fine
The sun shines through the windows, a good sign
she eats her breakfast while she sits outside
and talks to him across the great divide

All along she's known the days would come she'd be on her own
Since he's gone she's been confused but all in all she's grown
