Highland Park is a GREAT to live in. It is a artsy place and there is something always going on here.... The gangs here are not even a problem .......It also helps that we live super close to pasadena.

I live near Highland Park, i know im not suppose to be saying this stuff but i do. people are saying that its not a great area but depends on what street or something. you guys are making it seem like Highland Park is the ONLY area that is bad in reality there are worse spots than this around LA.. haha

I love Highland Park, was raised here, my sons raised here and NOT into gangs, drugs..etc.. simple if u dont like it...move...I could live anywhere, but I choose not to.. down York blvd..its getting much nicer, check it out, its not as bad as some ppl comment..you must of had a bad experience which can happen anywhere in the country..lol....anyhow have a nice day :)

@smredublo I agree. I live in the Avenues in HLP and it's not bad at all. The bangers are mostly peewees tagging and trying so desperately to look tough. Gunshots once in a while and the LAPD usually takes them out pretty quick. I saw the LAPD arrest a couple of them a few weeks ago. Since the FBI raids, what little is left of the original Aves gang will be gone in a few years. Gentrification is a bitch! : )

I love how these people "pretend" that its such a great place to raise the kids. If they could afford it, they wouldnt live there. So they live this illusion. "LOOK HONEY AN ART GALLERY! HIGHLAND PARK IS SO ARTSY AND ECLECTIC!"
Of course, ignore the gunshots at night, ignore the gang tagging, ignore the trash everywhere, ignore the speed freaks, ignore the heroin addicts. "ITS A GREAT PLACE TO RAISE YOUR KIDS!"

Never had a problem living here. My wife and I love it. Never heard one gun shot. Every few months have police helicopter circling nearby on some night. Streets are cleaner than where we used to live just North of Downtown Long Beach. The only big problem I see is the tagging, but I imagine this is done by a bunch of 13 year old wannabe's.
