Pierre Alferi, a french author, poet, writer, and philosopher, was born 1963 and lives in Paris. Pierre Alferi founded, with Suzanne Doppelt, the literary magazine and review Détail. He also founded Revue de Littérature générale where he was a co-director with Olivier Cadiot. He published several philosophical essays including Guillaume d'Ockham, Le Singulair (Minuit, 1989) and Chercher une phrase (Christian Bourgois, 1991). Selections of his work have appeared in English in the Exact Change Yearbook (ed. Peter Gizzi, 1995), Rhizome #3 (1999), Five Fingers Review #10 (1991) and Five Fingers Review #16 (1997).

Pierre Alferi is the author of several books, fiction, poetry volumes, and novels: Le Cinéma des familles (1999), Sentimentale journée (1997), Fmn (1994), Kub Or (Golden Kube, 1994), Le Chemin familier du poisson combatif (1992), & Les Allures naturelles (1991; translated by Cole Swensen as Natural Gaits, Sun & Moon Press, 1995. In 2003 Pierre Alferi published Ce qui reste d'Auschwitz with Giorgio Agamben, in 2004 published a collection of essays titled Des Enfants et des monstres, a collection of poems titled La Voie des airs (P.O.L), Intime, and Oxo with 7 photographs by Suzanne Doppelt, translated from the French by Cole Swensen; in 2006 Pierre Alferi authored Buscar Una Frase, in 2007 he published the book Ça commence à Séoul. Alferi has also authored several short films and videos: Films parlants and cinépoèmes (DVD, 2003). Pierre Alferi has collaborated with the artist Jacques Julien, and has recorded and performed with musician Rodolphe Burger. Alferi has also translated works by John Donne, Giorgio Agamben and Meyer Schapiro into the French.
