I joined the navy shortly after this movie came out. All the instructors would tease us because they thought we were there just because we wanted to be like Maverick, Goose and Iceman. "Look at all these TopGun fuckups" and " a bunch of Hollywood Sailors". It was kind of funny, because that's exactly why I joined! Not quite like the movies though. I didn't get laid by a sexy government contractor. I got crabs from a Phillipean hooker...
