  • looks like a huge expense to do the same work as a wing plow. i believe these were bought with federal "green" funny money. another waste.

  • @h8ayoel the tow plow is able to clear more lanes at a higher speed with additional salt and brine spreading capabilities. The tow plow is also able to remain on the road longer before needing to return to the shed for more salt and brine. We have found the it to be a successful tool in clearing our roads; one truck can do the work of 1 3/4 trucks.

  • Hey thanks DOT for removing my comments and marking me as spam. • what keeps the trailer from swinging all over the place?

  • @22ttube1 one of our engineers has posted a response. "In Response to 22tube1: The position of the tow plow is control by hydraulic rams connected to the hitch and by steerable axles on the tow plow itself. The hydraulic rams do not require as much force as one would think, as the steerable axles keep the plow running straight and true." - Lynn Bernhard UDOT Maintenance Division

  • I work at the shed this tow plow runs at, It is alot of fun to plow along side this one, This will be are third year that we have had are tow plow. The best part about this is when your plowing down the freeway and the driver of this rig hits that button the trailer swings out at a 45 degree, everybody freaks out, your first thought is a semi jackknifing. It looks vary intimidating but with the right guy and some training its not so bad.

  • we have these in new Brunswick can too.they do an awesome job.one trk does the work of 2.should be used everywhere

  • @h8ayoel This country is only successful because the government spends money to keep our roads clear and our infrastructure functioning.

  • that is cool way to plow.......
