NYC J1-e 5330 pulling a hodgepodge express train with, among others, a pair of Lehigh Valley sleepers that are apparently on a detour of some kind. - Maybe they're on their way to or from the Pullman shops in Chicago?

  • @limosalimosa From What I hear, It's Still a QSI decoder, But I'll look into that before i Purchase one.

  • @mountainlova1009 In the Paragon 2 models, Broadway Limited used their own design sound board so a QSI programmer wont help - for all I know. But maybe you'd better ask on the forum over at the Broadway Limited website! Or just find a good P1 and get the chip.

  • @limosalimosa Wait wait, It seems, As I read from QSI, Engines That Do not Require The Upgrade Chip Can be Edited With the QSI programmer, So I'll be getting that, And Uploading the correct Sound set. Pretty much what yours sounds like but with an Air Rung bell, I think, More NYC Research... Also Thanks, I looked for a few hours trying to see who sold QSI upgrade chips In-case I end up with an Old One.

  • @mountainlova1009 Didn't know about the whistle but not to worry! Paragon 1 Hudsons turn up on ebay from time to time, just make sure you have the second run (with the sides of the drivers all black, the first run had the sides of the tires unpainted) they run much better. AFAIK, the upgrade chip is readily available from e.g. Tony's train exchange

  • @limosalimosa I Can't Get the Upgrade?... Hmm... I won't Buy it then. It's not worth the cash Considering I don't care for the smoke, The whistle is wrong On the Paragon 2 And I'd Rather get A Downgraded decoder then.

  • @mountainlova1009 Only the older QSI- equipped locos need the upgrade chip, your Paragon 2 won't need it, it'll be great out-of-the-box. But for the smoke, they're the same. Marker lights, try Cal-Scale 1mm jewels, silver for the front, red for the tender. Drill out a little dent where the black bulbs are and the jewel will fit right in with a tiny drop of glue. It was much easier than I thought.

  • @limosalimosa Ah, Very nice! I'm Looking Forward On ordering Mine, Sadly Paragon 2, Though I have been digging for a Paragon 1 For the last year or two. I have no clue on how to order a Upgrade chip Though. I might try small LED's or that fiber light wire stuff for the markers... or something "reflective" on mine.

  • @mountainlova1009 Thanks! Second run Paragon 1 Hudson (with the black driver tires) but with QSI upgrade chip - this makes a big difference in slow speed performance. Airbrushed the smokebox myself, also added jewels in the marker lights. Will post a video of the Hudson with my new camera later for more detail.

  • Did it Come Factory Painted Like That? with the Grey Smokebox? And, Is that Paragon 1? Very Nice.
