GORGEOUS! I love this aria. There is no surpassing Pinza's secure technique, beauty of tone, and intonation.

Thank you for posting these precise facts about his life. If I did use a wrong expression, would you excuse me? I love this artist so much and enjoy all the YT extracts.

Ezio Pinza not only emigrated to the U.S., he became a citizen. We call that: Italian American (an Italian who became an American). Btw, he was interned for three months in 1942 until Attorney General Biddle was convinced to give him a second hearing and he was realeased.

@MOe4g2 Sorry to correct: Ezio was Italian, born in Italy from Italian parents. He did emigrate to the US and lived there until his death.

He has a complete mastery of his entire range. His voice has the same warmth and strength and rolls throughout his entire compass! Beautiful.
This aria is for me fantastic. It is a kind of Requiem for the poor
and this is the best performance from this superb italo-american bass.Amazing.Thanks for posting.

so nice to have a conductor that plays WITH the singer, not against him. a lost art.
