Alster Ice Hamburg | Alster Eis - 27.01.2010 (1 of 3)

The Hamburg Alster Lake video 1, 27.01.2010 | This is the day that the go-ahead for the Alstereisvergnügen should have been given for the weekend 30th/31st January, but sadly the ice was not thick enough for a major event. Saturday the 30th, saw an estimated 35000 people on the ice anyway. Hamburg English Pages was down there on 27th, 28th and 30th of January 2010. This video has been split into two and features photos and videos from 27th January. The first half is a video and the wind noise has been kept. The second half shows still photos and has been backed with music. This was by far the coldest of the three days. If the go-ahead for the event is given, it should happen on the 5th/6th/7th February 2010. Wind surfing/Ice surfing is forbidden. Watch the police go out onto the ice to talk to one of two surfers. I think it's worth pointing out that the Alstereisvergnügen has not taken place in 2010 yet. The event has to be officially given the go-ahead and includes stands on the ice itself, not just a few round the lake

I must say, I thought I'd never see the Alster freeze again. 1997 was much colder than this time, with minus 18°C.
