@shrunkpea17 No, I'm afraid not: "sped" is only used as the past tense and past participle in sentences like "The car sped past at 100 mph" or "We were told that John had sped to the hospital like a bat out of hell".
The phrasal verb "to speed up", on the other hand, takes "speeded up" as its past tense and past participle.
Similarly, a motorist caught driving too fast is said to have speeded (not sped).
