Useful vocabulary:
1) "Kate..." 'uh, my name is Kerri.' "Kate! I love you!"
2) Let's go to a motel, no thanks, okay, let's go
3) Where's the nearest DVD Bang? Oh there is one conveniently above the arbitrary coffee shop we chose

These are my impressions about some of the differences between dating in Canada and dating in Korea. I don't mean to say that I prefer one over the other, or to say Canadian style dating is better, because if anything I might say Korean style is better.. but I'm just expressing my thoughts.

It's possible that the things I noticed about Korean dating styles could be products of my own misconceptions or hangups about love in general, or it could have more to do with being highly sensitive to certain behaviours because I am a person living in a foreign country. I think when you are traveling in a new place, sometimes you subconsciously take on a more observational / idealistic / impressionistic role.

At any rate, I'm interested in the experiences of other expats here in Korea, and those who have experience dating Koreans. Or Koreans who have dated or married non-Korean people. How's it going?

  • I am dating a Korean man, who lived in Korea his whole life and I am American. Unfortunately your video actually describes the exact OPPOSITE of how he has said Korean men date.

  • @athenasroses ~~ oh really? can you explain a bit about how he said they date then? :)

  • I may be totally off but my guess is that you were experiencing those guys that prey on Westerners. They think we're dumb and easy. So they say whatever they need to say to get in your pants. I mean...not much different from many men over here but I hear this is not the norm in Korea. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @SuperYT4Ever I disagree. People have different ideas about what is beautiful and what isn't :)

  • Nice video but why do people think this is so offensive? I always pay for my dates. But if she offers to pay that's heaven! You have a blog so I can follow you!

  • I thought... you must NOT be from USA or you are a "freak".... just another PROOF that women in USA are LOST to the world.

  • For all of you posting disagreeing comments, Kerri made an update video, after a year. So, please, watch it:) It is in the sidebar - "Dating in Korea (a year later)".

  • Lol u just spot me there

    I'm Korean n I'm with a White girl

I always pay for stuff when my gf says she wants pay technically I don't let her for some weird feeling I get afterwards when my gf pays something for me

Btw my American n english friends do the same thing

So it just depends on who and what kinda personality they have

For me I can't stand from people watching my gf paying a dinner for me cuzz it makes me feel bad n makes me feel stupid

  • @TheYoungik Is that a typical Korean response?

  • @guitarhamster102 lol nice

  • you had a relationship? LOL

  • In korea, women are arrogant dominating bitches but men are all super nice.
