Dec. 7, 2011 Sound Transit put the steel bridge into place over Pacific Avenue in Tacoma. When completed, the project will extend south line Sounder commuter rail service from Tacoma Dome Station to Bridgeport Way in Lakewood. The new rail line will cross Pacific Avenue on a railroad bridge, giving traffic unimpeded access north and south of the rail line. Service to Lakewood will begin in late 2012.
