This is number three in a series of video blogs where i will be recalling some of the many people and events I have experienced throughout my lifetime. I will be traveling back into time up to my 35th birthday in december with stories I hope you will enjoy. all these facts and writings will tell you more about me. this thrid blog features me speaking about the big band hall of fame and museum in west palm beach florida where i'm a proud charter member. It was formed by sally and paul bennett. each year they had a big band ball as a fundraiser for the museum. I wish and hope to go to another big band ball in the future to see the bennetts and other interesting people. -- john

  • Think on this, though: Louis wasn't just a sideman, of course, for quite a few years he had his own big band--use to play in Vegas. It was a good one. I always wondered how someone of that stature feels when after they have had that amount of control with expressing their artistry, that is basically taken away and they once again become a sideman for the remainder of their career. (Bellson worked from the late 1970's on with Benny Goodman, and I don't remember who else,). Regards, B.
