Think on this, though: Louis wasn't just a sideman, of course, for quite a few years he had his own big band--use to play in Vegas. It was a good one. I always wondered how someone of that stature feels when after they have had that amount of control with expressing their artistry, that is basically taken away and they once again become a sideman for the remainder of their career. (Bellson worked from the late 1970's on with Benny Goodman, and I don't remember who else,). Regards, B.

Too bad about Louie Bellson's passing--he was a great guy, great player. I didn't know there was a "museum" for the big bands--you know they wern't that long ago . . . Thanks for the story.
