I don,t know why people knock a horse who has won 2 Arcs. Any horse that won 2 Arcs has to be good.

The astonishingly arrogant Australasians can't get their head round the fact that without the influx of European raced stallions their racing would be in the backwater.Of course they are bound to produce some top class horses,overall their racing is poor. The Japanese could take them to the cleaners.

@rathkeilter I think with a better ride Balmerino would've finished closer, but don't think he would've won. As for Kiwis having huge egos regarding racing, I'm not sure how you could surmise that at all. We are a tiny, isolated industry, and when, on rare occasions, we produce something that can be considered international, we are incredibly proud. How is that egotistic? You're either confusing racing with rugby, or us with Australians.

Alleged only ran so few times due to having a bad injury.When he came back at 4 he only had one prep race and then won the arc again.Like duke of matmalade injury probably stopped us seeing a truly great horse in his prime.Saw him beat hot grove(derby runner up to the minstrel) in the voltigeur by 10 lengths which was the first time i had been racing.Was in an era whn dr obrien had so many great horse and for lester to say he was one of the best truly means he was.

i heard carson say that the 77 leger was a brutal race!! strong pace from start to finish, Alleged and Dunfermline were miles clear of the 3rd that day.

He was beaten fair and square by Dunfermline - a great filly.
