  • I hold the disconnect box firmly in place against wall with one hand before pulling the disconnect switch with other hand, and I do this before I wash the coil.

  • Good points, but you really need to turn the breaker of to the indoor unit as well as the outdoor unit when washing the condenser coil. Watch how this guy is washing the condenser coils with the disconnect box open which is a good way to get shocked.

  • Pull that disconnect before you spray any water on that unit.

Also, have the breaker off to the furnace which cuts the low voltage to the condenser,

Google: udarrell or many pages of Air Conditioning Best Practices. - Darrell

  • can Barely hear you,. Bummer

  • It's best to remove the sprayer from the hose and just use the open end with a finger to control the flow- the sprayer can and will bend up the fins. Use regular dish washing detergent diluted in a sprayer for the coil to get it cleaner. TURN OFF POWER" BEFORE" WASHING.

  • These are great tips. Make sure that you call the service guys frequently to clean you air conditioner and keep the compressor running along fine.

  • Try to get away from bleach and or vinegar as they may cause Formicary corrosion and spring leaks in the evap. coil.Hot water(about a half gallon depending on length of line set) does a good job.

  • Great points. Although I wouldn't touch with the freon line unless your certified, because that releases environmentally toxic stuff into the air. And your lungs are vulnerable, so be sure to wear a mask if your purging contaminants. Great job, and interesting post.

  • take care of that rockin condenser please.

  • very helpfull tankyou
