At the age of 12, Christie Blackwood was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. Her health journey included months in the hospital including chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. During this time, the Blackwoods were told about CaringBridge by a child life specialist. Christie used CaringBridge to communicate with her friends and family throughout her journey. Her experience is detailed in the best-selling book, The Girls From Ames. For more personal stories, visit http://www.caringbridge.org/stories

  • Dear Christie, Rest In Peace.

  • I am sorry for your loss. Christie STILL IS an inspiration to many as her spirit lives on to guide others facing the same battle. I am one of those people. I pray I can

show the same courage she did as I go through my transplant. BIG HUGSSSSS.
