In this brief tutorial, I show you how to import AVCHD footage into Final Cut. You basically need to use the Log and Transfer tool, it's that simple!

Thanks for watching!

  • what program do you use to film your screen

  • @Therave110695 I use Screenflow, by Telestream :)

  • Nice video. I have the vixia hf200 and was wondering what specs I should get for my new macbook pro because my current PC can't even play back avchd files. Major Lag... any info would be appreciated.

  • I'd get a hard drive boost processor boost just to make it faster...

  • when i drag the media, it doesnt transfer. it just goes idle and an exlamation point pops up and it doesnt work

  • Really? Hmm.. that is weird...

  • I have a new sony HDR-CX130 camcorder and when I put it to USB, download the footage to my computer and play it back, it has lag. I was wondering how I can get rid of this so that I can edit the footage and put it to youtube? Thanks. Also, I was playing it back with Windows 7 software, what ever it came with stock. I've also tried to put it in the supplied Sony software (PMB), but the lag is even worse playing it back on that. A lot worse. Not sure why or what to do. Thanks for any help.

  • Fast, easy, explain perfect !!!

    Thank you.

  • @fcblackbridge hey i have the same problem if u find a solution please let me know thanks.

  • Thanks dude. Can I edit hd on fcp version 4?

  • Don't forget to set the import preferences to Apple Prores 422 so editing afterwards is easier. There are a few Prores settings but the normal one is fine for mor=st everything. LQ looks terrible and HQ takes up WAY too much space

  • thanks! Helpful video. Would you have any idea how to transfer MTS files that I saved from the camera directly to the harddrive? For some reason I am not able to get them into Final Cut Express 4 through LOG & TRANSFER. LOG & TRANSFER does work if I take the footage directly from the camera

    Thanks

  • i cant make that because when i did open log & transfer, final cut pro dont find my clips from my sony nexvg10 AVCHD and after that FCP turn off... i dont know why... .. i need help:S...

  • @AGxKnockout That worked out beautifully thanks a lot man i have been trying to figure this out for two years thank you thank you thank you oh by the way did i say thank you check out my comedy sets at thongcomic on you tube

  • @babygurl59033 I had the same problem, and after doing some research I figured out how to fix it for myself. What I did was go to the gear icon at the top of the 'log and transfer' box. Under that menu I selected 'preferences' then changed the audio from 'mixed stereo' to 'plain stereo' and it imported without a hitch. Hope this helps.
