I didn't think Id get a response .My comment meant I liked Lonnie .He got the big production . I'm a fan of lead belly ,woody ,ramblin jack,big bill ,reeves,monroe,cash etc etc and now Lonnie can be added to the music that touches me. Thank you

Looks and sounds to me Lonnie must have been working at the same time with Nashville. A British guy singing and performing as well as any American artist

@Jm01394 -- No Nashville connection at all. Donegan's major inspirations were the recordings by Leadbelly, Big Bill Broonzy, and Woody Guthrie. His first hit, "Rock Island Line," was a Leadbelly song which Donegan recorded in London, 1954.

Lonnie may have been the "King of Skiffle" but he was also the Archeopterix of British Rock and Roll, insiring a generation of new musicians.
