Because it makes commiting the murder easier because you know have a very good idea of where they will be and at what height to aim and shoot your gun. This may sound a bit complicated for you, but shooting a stationary target also known as a 'Sitting Duck' is easier than trying to shoot a target running wildly about about trying to avoid getting hurt.

Sympathy could be considered if for example, he dropped his gun and it went off and shot his girl, but nope, he shot to kill whoever was behind the door, without any sign of the humanity you speak of, no attempt whatsoever to fire warning shots or anything, probably because he wanted to kill whoever was behind the door, and yes, the possibility exists that he knew full well who was behind the door. Also, this guy IS NOT innocent, he has committed at the very least manslaughter.

You know, That is a great theory-the absolute best that really makes sense. Lets face it,police are human & make mistakes just like us all. Sometimes I feel that the police are too quick to accuse. If she was sitting on the toilet & he heard a noise there - on his stumps,which he said he was, the shots would still be heading down as his stumps end below the knee which would reduce his height by approx only 6-8 inches.He would still be shooting downwards if someone is sitting.This makes sense too
