Outstanding Houston teacher Margaret Calagna of Armand Bayou Elementary School was surprised on December 17, 2008 with a $25,000 Milken Educator Award for her exemplary work in raising student achievement. Milken Family Foundation Co-Founder Michael Milken made the surprise announcement at a schoolwide assembly involving dignitaries such as Texas Commissioner of Education Robert Scott.
