I like the fact that pausing is counted towards time used, but still I don't like abusing pauses as a technique to speedrun…

You don't even know why I did it. I'm guessing you think it's to get a good view of where I am. That's wrong though. I had to do the jump kick trick where you hold A and tap B. It's very difficult to do (and borderline impossible in real time) without pauses because if you tap A even a bit too late, you will just jump "into" the ground. Basically pausing is what makes this method possible. It isn't like BLJing into BitDW in SM64 where you abuse pausing to see where to go.
