Spotting at NAS Oceana

Naval Air Station Oceana
Virginia Beach, Virginia
Tuesday March 15, 2005

IN THIS VIDEO, NAS Oceana is seen running both Runway 32L and 32R as the active runways. This video was shot in the late afternoon and early evening hours of Tuesday. Earlier in the day the Pukin' Dogs of VF-143 sent off their final five F-14B Tomcats on a farewell mission, with most of the jets ending up in museums. I did attend the fly-off and shot video of their departures and flyby from the tower, but the audio constantly cut in and out and unfortunately, cannot share the video with you (unless I find the low-quality video, which I believe has decent quality audio). The video seen here was shot from Potters Road.

I apologize for the bad sound quality in this video. What you see in this video represents the best audio and video from this spotting trip. A lot more was shot, but the audio in that video constantly cuts in and out.

If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • Hey that shot outside the gate looks familiar. Years ago I stopped there to watch the planes come in and land. You get a real close up,because they were low and just over the chain link fence when landing. Great video!
