Inside the new leisure Centre (LC2)

The £32million revamped facility - known as the LC - features a sprawling water park called The Edge.

It has three hydro-slides, three pools and a surf machine.

There has been controversy over the pool's pricing and opening times in recent weeks, but council leader Chris Holley is confident punters' jaws will drop when they see it for themselves in the first week of March.

He said: "I am so proud of the LC.

"People have complained and criticised, but just wait until they see it.

The Edge water park is the best of its kind in the UK and the facilities through the centre are second to none."

The facility is the replacement for the old Swansea Leisure Centre which shut in November, 2003 because of a massive repair bill.

Mr Holley revealed the new centre would be much cheaper than the previous to run, and kinder to the environment too.


There will also be a gym, cafe, kids indoor play area, climbing wall, and sports hall.

But all eyes were on The Edge this afternoon, particularly the Surf Rider.

Among those getting the first test was two-time European surf champ Chris "Guts" Griffiths.

He said: "Nothing beats the Gower for surf, but this ride is pretty amazing."

SAUNA USERS BEWARE- My poor son has become a silent, wrecked shell of a human because of one stupid mistake made when 17YO.

Working at a leisure centre during Summer, he got friendly with a party of retirees (all 60+). One time they were all in the sauna when, for a laugh, he jammed the door shut & left them in for 40m. One man died of heat exhaustion & 3 others needed hospital treatment. Coroners criticised his conduct as ‘reckless & negligent’, but it was such an easy mistake to make.

ilove Lc2 tbh, its great, but i went once and Lazy River broke (N) i was pissed off cuz thats my favourite there tbh, plus you couldnt go into the Jackwuzi (sorry spelling) lol & my cousin went today and the slides were closed :S they need to sort it out a bit i think :L
