Oh! I have one more question I forgot to ask. How much pressure are you putting down on the bottom here? I'm afraid of putting too much, or not putting enough, and causing my bowl to fly off. Thanks again!

Hi there Simon. Greetings from the US :) I have really enjoyed watching your videos. You give so much great information. Anyway, I have several questions for you, the first being, what kind of clay do you use? The second being, are fancy tools (such as super expensive ribs, ect) really worth the money? Third being, do you have a gas wheel? You constantly push down on it, in your videos, and it's not a continuous thing. Or does not seem that way anyway. Thanks for all the great videos/tips!

I forgot about a couple of bowls that I was using as demos in my classroom last week. Dried them all the way out. big problem right?!? Sprayed them like you did. but instead of wrapping them, I set them upsidedown on a couple of wetted plaster slump molds. I fit the whole thing inside a 1 gallon plastic icecream bucket. I came back and spritzed them every hour or two for a day while some of my other classes where drawing and painting. by the next day i had leather hard clay to work with again

when you tap trim or watever.. u dont use anything to hold it.. but i mean in art i use pieces of clay to hold the piece in place or i use this other this that needs metal sticks and things to hold them... do you just prefer to trim like that?

Thanks Simon! You know - I happened to go to your video on throwing a covered jar, and sure enough you took the time to explain the relationship of wheel speed, speed of lift, and to keep the water spread evenly - so I tried that last night during class and it really helped...but I still suck...LOL. So I will definitely keep practicing - thanks again!
Hi Simon - Thank you so much for sharing your talents and experience here with us! I have finally began my long-time dream of working with clay, and am hoping you could help me determine what I'm doing wrong when I throw on the wheel - no matter a vase, cup, pot, bowl, etc... After I "lift" the clay walls and start to form the shape, the clay wall sort of twists on itself . Do I simply need more practice -or is it a specific problem? Thanks again from your newest fan in Fort Worth...

Hi there ! ...mmmmh this is a common problem . I suspect its due to lack of water most likely or eneven watering when you do water .remember to water your hands & the pot then spread the water over the side of the pot with your hand .Let me know how it goes & yes do keep practicing ! ( & clicking ) cheers SL
