This 1979 documentary film focuses on gangs such as the savage skulls & nomads who occupied areas of the South Bronx. Perhaps even more compelling is considering that the backdrop and social conditions in this film are a 'far cry' from the lifestyle being promoted through disco music and film. Perhaps this answers questions to why many people took preference over the funk records which arguably pathed the way for Hip Hop culture.

This is so real. They don't make documentaries like this anymore. Just rich hipsters with HD cameras covering bland, boring stories and filling them with Indie music.

@magiclard The place has drastically cleaned up due to gentrification and the hardwork of alot of neighborhood volunteers and programs. It also helps that the crack epidemic is over although not completely gone.

I live in Queens, about 40 mins from there.. NYC standup!!!!

@magiclard Drugs, prison, violence and disease took alot of these ppl out.. The ones that are still around most of them are hanging on by a string, Very few that lived this lifestyle made it out ok and living comfortable.
