My news spot from 2010 - shortly after this aired, the Hilton simply painted over the STTE sign, destroying it once and for all.

  • What ever happened to the sign? I heard that it was painted over, but that was it.

  • @wil1243 Yep, painted over and that was it. That was the Hilton's answer to the whole thing.

  • @VWVVWVVWV I know what is going to happen... some Hilton exec. hates Star Trek, and is keeping the sign there as a legal measure to keep anyone else from building a new Experience. Anyone tries, they dust off the sign and go "OH no you DON'T, the rights are all ours, and we'll sue you if you try making one." Hilton's middle finger, indeed. Thank you Hilton for nearly killing Star Trek

  • Romulan's!

  • The Hilton family is worth like half a billion dollars so they probably could give a shit about a star trek experience.

  • You guys were awesome! You really made me happy during a very dark time in my life. I was glad to visit before it closed, but sadly my brother never got to see it. :(

  • Thanks for the update Vernon. I'm glad someone is working on this. I like your idea about putting a sign or informational sign under the ST sign to let people know why the Hilton WAS the place to go.

It was agreeable to see April also.

  • HA HA! There are much bigger things in the world... but I don't care. I love it. You're the best Vernon. ;)

I'm still upset that they closed it down. I had planned to take my oldest daughter there and now... well, I'm out of luck. I can only show her pictures. :( I haven't had a reason to return to LV now.

  • Cool little news segment, congrats Vernon!

  • I heard that there was bad blood between Hilton and Paramount regarding the attractions lease by Paramount who had gotten it at a very cheap rate.

I may be wrong, but its just rumors that have floated around.

I also read on Trekmovie a while ago that the Hitlon white-washed the sign and thats a real shame.

Personally, I thought Trek was a bigger attraction than Elvis to the Hilton, No disrespect to fans the KING ofc (-:
