  • Am I on the weird part of Youtube?

  • Some people hear all the talk of women getting the birth that they want and falsely assume natural birthers and home birthers are selfish. If we take a closer look at most hospital practices and protocols you realize there are so many damaging practices done to women in labor that the only way to get away from them is to do something drastic and demand a more gentle birth experience. We really need to tie in the connection of the baby's well being to a mother's emotional well being.

  • Exelente!! Seria bueno que pongan subtitulos en español.

    Saludos y Gracias!!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing these images of ancient labor and birth scenes - as a future mother constant support during labor and birth in a hospital was immensely valuable, when giving birth to my son 37 years ago. Years later working as a midwife, family and doula support made a great difference in women's perception of their labor process. Ancient is contemporary !!

  • I love that not one of these women is depicted birthing flat on her back!

  • i agree with you liajoy! i disagreed with that statement very heartily, as i disagreed with the parting shot that labor is 'stressful' the world over. not.

  • Beautiful! as a woman who has given birth alone, I disagree with the statement that we NEED assistance during labor. However, as a doula I definitely see the value in the presence of one or more supportive companions :)

  • Very interesting. I didn't know artwork about birth went back so many millenia.
