This clip is from Betty's 1957 movie Spring Reunion. Interesting bit of trivia: the dress she is wearing in the number is the same dress that she wore when she made her initial success as a vocalist with Vincent Lopez' orchestra at the age of 17! You can catch this same costume in her early Lopez video clips.

As you can hear, she was an exceptional singer but was so indentified with special material and hectic numbers it was often overlooked.

Betty Hutton is the gold standard. As soon as I saw the dress, I recognized it from "Old Man Mose." She was the real deal and so lovely. I also wish that her movies and videos of her performances were more available.

I was lucky to watch it on cable two years ago!
The film isn't great, but Betty is!

More! More! More! She really was wonderful. I cannot find this film anywhere. So, I was very pleased to see this clip of Betty giving her all, as she always did, in her last big screen role. Seeing her looking and sounding so good, it is hard to understand how everything came to a screeching halt in movies for her after this film. I will never understand the politics of Hollywood. Betty's legacy of excellence speaks for itself.

Unfortunately, the only Hutton films that TCM are showing these days are films that I own on DVD.(Morgan's Creek, Greatest Show, and Pauline)This is why I am grateful for your wonderful posts of clips from movies I have not seen. By the way, Robert Osborne is one CLASS ACT. Thanks again for your great posts!

Good gracious! I put two browsers side by side and compared this dress to her "Old Man Mose" frock ... I do believe it's the same dress! Love "Old Man Mose" and the sequel too ; 0

haha...funny! Yes, history says it is the same dress. I have a copy of a newspaper article (thanks to my good friend who produces Betty Hutton publications)that talks about her getting the dress out of mothballs!Glad you enjoyed the post!

I've got a feeling that there was nobody better than Betty. Thanks for the post. I have never seen this before and somehow missed the movie a few months ago when TCM aired it. Thanks again.

I'm sooo glad to hear that they are running her films on TCM - I don't have cable, so I do miss out on such treats! I think we can thank Robert Osborne - he admired Betty, and her work. Thanks Robert!
