This is the clip of me taking a charging foul from Samaki Walker in high school. This was the second round of the Columbus High School Boy's Tournament in 1993. Many people have said it was blocking a foul but I can only go with what the referees called. If you don't remember Samaki Walker, he ended up becoming an NBA champ with the LA Lakers.

  • in prime time basketball (NBA) you cant take a charge there, but in the NFHS (high school rules) handbook, a charge is not limited to a certain area. This is a good call by the official.

  • The NBA is one of the only rulebooks that have the restricted area underneath the basket. Most other (especially Federation and lower) leagues permit the defender to set up anywhere on the court, and the charge call can and will be made anywhere this occurs.

  • hey this is a video of me getting dunked on by samaki walker

  • thats a block he was right under the basket

  • man, that guy is about twice as big as anybody else on the court^^

  • yeh totally agree about the hanging on the ring part

  • Yes, 2010 may well be correct, just recall reading the notice (combined 2008, 2010, and 2012 rule changes were in one doc).

Yes, this is copying the nba, but it will be a better set of rules once they've settled. Next just to let players hang on the rim after a dunk...

  • actually start of 2010. they also have the straight key and extended 3 point line. dont ya think its copying the nba a little bit?

  • FIBA is introducing a similar rule in the next few years.. 2012 I think

  • Lol they dont have the restricted area at the level xD Of course they can. It's the NBA only who has the restricted area set up under the basket. This is high school man.
