In this video we look at OpenSUSE 11.3 KDE. There doesn't seem to be much difference between OpenSUSE 11.2 & 11.3 apart from the under the hood changes and the newer versions of the included software, it's more of a refined release than something new but that's one of the things which makes it so awesome.

Since we've looked at OpenSUSE 11.2 in depth this video is just an overview of some of the best parts of 11.3, if you would like to see an in-depth OpenSUSE review then please have a look at the 11.2 videos.

This video looks at:

The Live CD
The Live CD Installation
OpenSUSE's KDE Implementation
Default Software
The Package Manager

  • @TheQuestioner132 If you're judging by the video then it was recorded in a VM with 768MB RAM. I have it installed on hardware with 4GB RAM and it's really fast, I'd say it does some things faster than Windows.

  • ubuntu looks crappy compared to suse

  • @frvfilms just install KDE on your ubuntu if it's looks you're looking for... Linux users don't use mac because they usually don't judge things by how fancy and shiny they look.

  • I got Ubuntu Lucid Lynx on an old Athlon XP 1800+ and it feels kinda sluggish :/

  • @REDWINGSRED36 lol get a better computer XD

  • i love openSUSE. i converted from ubuntu just a few days ago. :-)

  • I want a Linux Distro that installs with KDE...I've never used KDE before, only GNOME. I'm looking for this because I want to install Backtrack4. I'm a computer security student at the U of M. So before wiping my Ubuntu and installing Backtrack4, I figured I'd install either Kubuntu, or OpenSUSE so that I could get used to the KDE environment.....which one do people recommend and why?

  • KDE --> 'Kickass Desktop Environment' (':

  • @milosrastovac but I hate gnome :-)

  • reinstall open suse with gnome it's alot less glitchy then kde

  • @chronius9 Panasonic produces copiers, totally incompatible with Linux. Nor linux community makes them work. It's a 2-way incompatibility.

I did not talk about 'video card drivers' , but about a KDE 4.x bug that makes system to loose the configuration with two displays.

  • @cicciotto82 Panasonic makes printers??? ;) I hadn't expierenced bugs, when installed video card drivers.
