and for those asking if u need an external piece of hardware the answer is no.
u can plug right into your mic jack with a 1/8 fitting from your 1/4 inch patch cord. but u must open the line 6 guitar amp mod in record .
which is pretty basic. check out my tutorial on how to start. mind you I did use a peddle :)

For folks who dont have $grands$ to spend on expensive gear this is the best thing out there.
Im surprised to hear folks complaining about this software.
if you have it all why do you give a shit.
if you dont, then use record lol.

how can you take a PRO piece of kit seriously if someone says... 'ROCK ON BUDDY'' .... so i guess this software really is for bedroom hero recordists. which is fine. Keeping out my 3rd party software i paid thru the nose for....isnt nice. One would have to buy a receptor to use plug ins through audio channels.
But for home recordists this is a dream come true.....for pro's not so much....

It's a beginners question, but do you just plug your guitar directly into the computer to use this software or is additional hardware needed? Thanks.

korgpadude: You need a PC, a MIDI audio interface, a guitar and probably something like a guitar effects preamp. My setup is more sophisticated but Record plugged into Reason definitely makes writing music better.

Reason doesnt have ANY record capabilities. Its not meant for recording...hence this software deemed RECORD appropriately.
